  1. Top 3 SPY podcast of all time

  2. I think Dore was trying to subvert SPY's format.

  3. I'm saying this: My favorite episode.

We had a budgie, a hamster, and a zebra.

  4. Thank you, anonymous listener(s). He certainly succeeded in subverting the format. We've never not done Overheard before, but we recorded three episodes in three days so whatevs, right? Whatevs, indeed.

  5. This was fucking terrible.

Worst episode, hands down, thus far.

  6. I can't remember, was it this insane the last time you guys had Jon Dore on? All I remember is "This is the sound of Graham fucking... or running down a futuristic hallway."

    ReplyDelete
  7. I nearly peed on myself, I laughed so much.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Very divisive, but the Anonymouses love it.

  9. Another Anonymous weighing in on the loved it side. I was listening to it last night on the bedroom stereo when my wife wanted to go to bed. I wasn't tired so I took my iPod and lay there listening in the dark next to her, trying not to let my chortles out. The chortle suppression effort shook the bed so much that I had to get up so as not to wake my lady-love. If I hadn't, you guys would have shook her all night long.

  10. Fluid, that's what that was, fluid... and funny. Chineser twigs? C'mon.

How does the Jon Dore show compare to Jon Dore dicking around?

  11. You can totally write a nameOctober 13, 2009 at 11:32 AM

I don't wanna tell you your business, but there's a button right above "Anonymous" where you can write in your name. Or any name.

  12. I had a blast listening to the show. A little less structured than normal, but hilarious. Best podcast around.

  13. There aren't many guests who could keep you two reeling like that the whole time. Awesome.

  14. Mr. Dore brought me over to this show and I love the sans him ones just as much. He makes me feel bad for Jimmy Dore. While I love them both in different ways, America loves accents. Great episode and great show in general, I just started days ago and I love it.

    ReplyDelete
  15. If you're not from Chicago, Jimmy Dore does (also) have an accent.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Oh, I forgot to add -- re: TV show about Dave and Zombies. I think North America would love to watch a show about the only man who survived a zombie apocalypse because of his mild social anxiety and reclusive tendencies. Greenlight it!

  17. I don't want to sound ungrateful, but...

The vast majority of your guests are very very funny while still being able to sort of drop their guard and act natural. It's the banter of (usually) three genuinely hilarious people just having fun and getting to know each other. At the best of times it's like you've actually forgotten that you're being recorded. Every week, I admire this.

    And then there's Jon Dore...

  18. Manic episode. I left feeling irritated but in hindsight I truly laughed my figurative ass off.

Were you guys really trying to be knobs to eachother or was it just a gag?

SPY is where it's at (despite it all.)

  19. As I was listening to this, I kept thinking "This is either absolutely brilliant, or a total Head-Smashed-In disaster"

I think I'm going to have to vote for disaster all in all, but you're allowed one bad show a calendar year.

    Keep up the excellent work.

  20. Well, today has taken an ugly turn.

  21. I've been listening to the exploding sandwich from the first episode and (like most podcasts) the first ones are rough. So I was looking forward to having a nice stop podcasting yourself break and lo, Jon Dore made SPY sound like rough-cut exploding sandwich. Dore's first episode on SPY, though, blew my mind and I loved it. I also laughed a lot at the zebra bit. THAT one worked!

    ReplyDelete
  22. already posted once...you're gonna make Dave angry with all that talk of exploding sandwiches and listening to them.

    ReplyDelete
  23. It's funny listening about the "feud" from the other side. On the exploding sandwich side, they seem to like Dave better than Graham. RE-INSTIGATION OF FEUD ALERT!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Look at all the comments. You should've saved Dore for sweeps week.

  25. As a homeless nerd with a drip drop tattoo who's father was a bear and mother was a shark I wasn't offended and enjoyed this episode. I am confused though because Jon said he was never a kid but then he said he was a latch key kid. I'm unclear on the difference besides having a key on a latch. Keep it up!

  26. already posted once - don't tell Dave (hi Dave) but I've been listening to the Exploding Sandwich from the start as well. But I listen to SPY while I'm doing pleasant things like cooking or baking, and ES while doing less pleasant things like washing dishes or cleaning the bathroom. So hopefully Dave will be gratified that I'm carefully cultivating ill feelings toward the odious Devi/ons.

  27. Your show is so very very good and funny and I never listen to it outside because my social skills are barely able to get me to point b without making a fool of myself. Dave, Graham- thanks for all the laughs and hilarious weekly guests.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Don't get it twisted. I listen to The Exploding Sandwich too. I don't think that's what we're talking about. They are fine young men who make a fine show.

    ReplyDelete
  29. My dick hated this episode. I expected more from a Jon Dore guest appearance. It sounded like a non stop tickle fight.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Know thine enemy, eh Dave? How deliciously Machiavellian.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I agree with Dave, Exploding Sandwich sucks!

    This episode was great, btw.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I really do have to say that my dick hated this episode :(

    ReplyDelete
  33. Exploding Sandwich doesn't suck, it's just like Stop Podcasting Yourself Jr. with sound effects.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Not a big fan of the miscarriage joke. Not being sensitive, or at least not trying to, but it seemed out of the character of the show. Just sayin'

    ReplyDelete
  35. Moon Unit, I agree it was pretty out of character for the show. We recorded three episodes in three days and we were a lot looser with this one because it was the last one.

And thanks for giving actual constructive criticism and not just saying you didn't like it.

    ReplyDelete
  36. This and the previous Jon Dore episode are definitely favorites. I've listened to it twice and will probably listen to it again because my coworker is gone today and I can laugh out loud every time he says "Chineser twigs".

    ReplyDelete
  37. Loved it. Great job! this was a nice vacation from the normal format of the show. And it was definitely an insanitycast.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I loved the episode!...no wait, I hated it. I am so confused. I think it may just take a second listen to decide. I'm with Moon Unit regarding the miscarriage "joke" however as a huge Jon Dore fan I understand that you just never know what the hell is going to come out of his mouth so no harm, no foul. So keep them coming guys, "questionable" episode aside I wouldn't miss one for the world!

Worst episode. Hands down. And I've listened to every episode. And I've turned my husband onto the podcast and he's now listened to every episode. The miscarriage joke was horrible. Maybe I'm sensitive to the topic for reasons that I am sure you could figure out, but my heart sunk to my stomach when I heard the joke. Crap. I no likey.

  40. this was a fantastic episode

    ReplyDelete
  41. Count me in for thinking this was effing hilarious. I often think that Dave & Graham are at their best รก la carte but if you don't think Jon Dore is funny it's because you simply can't keep up with him. J'adore Jean D'or. Thanks for keeping us on our toes!

    Plus Chineser twigs!? Instant classic.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Days later and I can't stop listening to this same episode. If you don't like this episode, what do you want out of funny people but for them to be funny and to be having fun while doing it?

  43. Yours Truly (aka KellyB)October 18, 2009 at 6:20 PM

When I saw that John Dore was your guest, I was uber excited. The last episode he was on has been listened to by yours truly at least five times. Lil' Hitler is one of my favourite tangents.

I'll admit to being frustrated when I listened to this episode the first time. I was pissed that Dore had derailed everything. I listened to it for a second time, however, and agree with whichever anonymous said it, that it was a nice departure from the usual format.

Also: At the risk of seeming insensitive and having never suffered from a miscarriage, I thought the bit was appropriately uncomfortable/horrible and hilarious....Classic Dore.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Riiiight Shelouise. The reason why someone doesn't find this episode funny is because they just aren't clever, sophisticated or sharp enough to understand the humour or keep up with all the nuances. It has nothing to do with a subjective opinion about what is or isn't funny.

    Wow, you're nifty Shelouise.

  45. Karen!

You just dissed Abby's Aunt Sheila, one of the first, best, and most beloved Bumpers.

    Is this...Dore-rama?

    ReplyDelete
  46. Karen! I'm thinking about having my own podcast featuring just you speaking for me. PLUS you seem to know lots of adjectives...but you lost me at "nifty". Maybe I'm not clever, sophisticated or sharp enough to understand.

    I stand by my opinions.

  47. there is no room for hate on this blog. keep your crummy comments about other commenters to your self, Karen!
